SS Mount Temple on the Rocks

2FE26ACE-6D48-432B-A64E-735BA33AB6FBApril 15th marked two significant events in the career of the Canadian Pacific line’s SS Mount Temple. Of course, most famously, she is known today for her position on that morning in 1912 as one of the closest ships to the site of Titanic’s sinking. Separated by an ice field, her attempts at a rescue came to no avail – though they rivaled Rostron’s in foresight and scope. Four years prior, on April 15th, 1908, Mount Temple was finally released from the grip of Ironbound Rock (scene below), where she had been stuck since grounding there on December 2nd of the previous year.
